Police allege a 4kg rock was allegedly thrown 20 metres from Boomerang Reserve, striking a passing vehicle on Henry Lawson Drive approximately 100m east of The River Road, about 10pm.
The 24-year-old driver suffered minor injuries to her right arm, however Bankstown Police Duty officer, Inspector Matthew Waring, said it could have ended in a devastating tragedy.
“I think it is pure luck that the driver didn’t suffer more serious injuries – or even worse,” Inspector Waring said.
“The fact that someone has dropped a large rock from the top of a hill, onto a random vehicle is beyond belief.”
An 18-year-old man has been charged with damage/destroy property with intention of endangering life.
