Dress up fun to celebrate Book Week

IT might have disrupted the school year but the pandemic wasn’t tough enough to stop Book Week 2020.

On Monday, October 19, students and staff at Auburn North Public School dressed as their favourite book characters for a day packed with activities both inside and outside of the classroom.
Principal Mark Harris said this year’s theme of ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’ encouraged students to realise that books are “full of all kinds of creatures and that books can expand our minds”.

“Students also participated in scavenger hunts where they used their knowledge of books to complete activities and answer questions in different locations around the school,” he said.
“If they were correct they received a piece of a ‘curious creature’ which they put together later in the day.”
The school also posted a video on their YouTube channel featuring the artworks created by each year related to one of the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) 2020 shortlisted books.
