Dr Karl back in classroom to aid science

ALLOWING you to change careers many times, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki believes ‘science’ is what every student should have in their mental toolbox.

Bankstown Girls High School students listened to a talk at the school given by Dr Karl who said there were five main areas in future science careers – genetics, engineering, basic physics, computer science and the big one – the environment.
Science teacher and Year 8 Advisor Daniel Golestan said the talk was very well received by students who also enjoyed seeing images of cute baby seals from Dr Karl’s recent trip to Antarctica.
“He discussed big ideas like what to do with scientific skills and knowledge, his career experiences and what he learned from them, human driven climate change and what should be done to reduce its harm, the benefit of pharmaceuticals and vaccines, and much more,” he said.
“Dr Karl who is the author of 47 books and the current Julius Sumner Miller Fellow at Sydney University, was very generous with his time, answering questions and even entertaining students’ with selfies and conversation after the event was finished.”
