Dozen rookies enter local district forces

SIX new probationary constables have been finding their feet around Auburn over the past couple of weeks.

Auburn Police Area Commander, Superintendent Adam Johnson, welcomed the six officers who were among the 192 officers to graduate from Class 343 who were sworn in at a private attestation ceremony on Friday, October 9.
“Each of these officers bring with them their own life experience and background with them,” Supt Johnson said.
“They will spend at least 12 months undergoing training as probationers under the tutorage of experienced officers along with additional on the job training.
“Following their probation, they will then spend at least two more years in general duties before they can branch out to other sections within the NSW Police Force.”
Another six of the new graduated probationers also kicked off their policing careers at the neighbouring Cumberland Police Area Command.
Recalling his own attestation ceremony, Police Commissioner Michael Fuller said all of the newest recruits had achieved an important and memorable milestone in their careers.
“Our newest recruits have already displayed the willpower and strength of character to make it to the parade ground,” he said.
“These are traits that will serve them well, as they serve the community.”
