Aquib was only too happy to help when the school’s Parents and Citizens group got in touch with a sponsorship request.
“We held a ‘doughraiser’ which we advertised on facebook and in a letterbox drop to the surrounding community,” he said.
“For every pizza sold on the day, from opening to close, we donated $1,” he said.
“It was one of our busiest days and I’m happy that it worked out so well for the school.”
P & C vice president and treasurer Kayla Davison said the cash – comprising $854 raised from pizza sales in the doughraiser and $146 from Domino’s staff donations – had come along at the right time.
“We have Padstow TAFE Horticulture students here at the moment completing the landscaping for the outdoor classroom but we’ve had added costs for sandstone, native planting and entrance pavers,” she said.
“We are very grateful to Domino’s who also donated 25 pizzas at our Year 6 fundraiser, which helped to buy the outdoor furniture.”
With 28 per cent of the school’s students having special needs, Kayla said the outdoor classroom would be a fantastic opportunity for them to learn in nature and not always be stuck inside four walls.
“We’ll also be using the classroom for our Naidoc celebrations as well as for our different cultural events,” she said.
