A Woolworths spokesperson said the bottles of water were supplied to individuals during Ramadan (pictured), an initiative it started last year to support the Muslim community.
Woolworths Operations Manager Saleh Elkheir says Woolworths is dedicated to caring for local communities and the donations of bottled water is one way they’re supporting the Islamic community during this important time of year.
“Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar and we understand it’s significant importance to the Muslim community,” he said. “With many people attending communal prayers in large numbers fasting all day, we have provided water so they remain hydrated while attending prayers that could go for hours at a time.”
Others receiving a share included Lebanese Muslim Association, Chullora; UMA Centre, Revesby; Al Minia Charitable Association, Roselands; and Al Minia Charitable Association, Chester Hill.
