Donate warm clothing to help boys heat homeless

AIMING to spread love and warmth this winter, the boys leadership team at East Hills Boys High School is calling on the school community and the public to donate clothing and shoes.

During their ‘Heat the Homeless’ campaign, they are collecting good condition jumpers, jackets, coats, hoodies, scarves, socks (new) and shoes for people of all ages and sizes via a collection bin outside the front gate of the school, Lucas Road, Panania, for the next week until June 13, from 8.20-8.50am, Monday to Friday.
Teacher Magdoline Shakir said the boys had been collaborating with a soup kitchen to whom they’ll provide the donations while the kitchen feeds the homeless.
“Any donations would be greatly appreciated,” she said.
“Boys at our school who get involved by donating clothes, have a chance at winning a free pair of sneakers and other prizes.”
Student Alvi Sarker said “it’s a way to give back to the community”, while student Zaine Annous urged residents to “support the homeless this winter” and student Jalil Figueroa said “make sure you don’t miss this opportunity to donate”.
