As part of that relationship, Danny and his fellow Rangers recently shipped off a couple of hundred jerseys, shorts, polo shirts, balls and boots following Sierra Leone’s first official match last month.
“We got the ball rolling late last year following a hold-up over Covid,” Danny said.
“We’ve also helped them out financially and have done the graphic design work on their logo which is the same as ours as they’ve chosen to call themselves ‘Holroyd Rangers Sierra Leone’.
“We’ve been very happy to help them out.
“The club, as well as our umbrella group Granville and Districts Soccer Football Association (GDSFA), does lots of good things here but if we are able to help a club less fortunate overseas, then why not.”
With only a men’s team competing at the moment, Danny said he had sent lots of junior sized clobber to the African nation to encourage them to get the juniors going too.
“We will be watching their progression with intent and are planning visits and maybe player exchanges once it’s safe to do so,” he said.
As he fronts up as president of Holroyd Rangers for the third year, Danny said he was excited for their own season to get underway on April 10.
“Our numbers are already through the roof; we can’t wait to see what 2021 brings,” he said.
