Last year more than 20,000 Australians were diagnosed with breast cancer, more than 3,200 of whom will die from the disease.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is also marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) with #BREASTfast – an invitation to everyone to share an image of their breakfast online, while donating the price of their breakfast.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the impact of breast cancer and the importance of funding pioneering breast cancer research to achieve the Foundation’s vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
“Because just as breakfast fuels your day, NBCF fuels the best breast cancer researchers in Australia to reach their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer,” a spokesperson said.
Minoli De Silva (pictured), much-loved MasterChef star, and two-time breast cancer survivor, is NBCF’s Ambassador for #BREASTfast.
“As a breast cancer survivor, I cannot stress enough the importance and value of funding breast cancer research,” Minoli said.
“By taking part in #BREASTfast, you can help researchers who undertake life-saving work, and at the same time you get to share your favourite, most delicious breakfasts,” she said.
