Donate book to help stock Street Library

SURPRISED to learn that some of their Toddler Ink Childcare preschoolers didn’t read at home as they had no books and had never visited a library, Assistant Director Daisy Catarci set about remedying the situation at the Greenacre centre.

She firstly set up a bookworm area in one of the rooms where children could spend time reading and were also encouraged to borrow and return a book on a weekly basis as well as organising excursions to the local library.
“But we really wanted to do more including encouraging their parents and the local community to pick up a book for relaxation and expand their world,” Daisy said.
With that in mind, she has registered a Street Library out the front of Toddler Ink at 137 Macquarie Street, which opened ‘for business’ last week.
“At the moment, we only have a few books in a doll’s house but when our collection grows, we’ll bring out a much larger, library-style bookcase that one of the dads made,” she said.
“We are not only seeking donations of books for all age groups and genres but encourage everyone to come and help themselves so long as they return the books after reading them.”
