Holroyd Rangers President Danny Rizk said they have now donated 250 balls in total to the struggling club and are always on the lookout for those who are passionate about football in less fortunate communities overseas.
“We aim to help out whenever we have the capability to do so,” he said.
“Being a community club, it’s all about community, no matter where on earth that is, and if we are fortunate enough to be able to help others, we will.”
Planning for another big season with membership continuing to boom, Rizk says Holroyd has now become one of the largest clubs in the Granville and Districts Soccer Football Association (GDSFA).
“A big proportion of our new recruits are female which is exactly what we’ve been pushing for – to get more females involved ahead of this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup being played here,” he said.
“There’s still time to register or tryout for a team and we always need coaches.”
In person registration nights are on offer every Wednesday, 6-8pm, at Guildford West Sports Ground during January, February and March.
Alternatively, players can also register at holroydrangers.com.au.
Donate balls to struggling club
AFTER sending off a container laden with soccer jerseys, shorts, boots and balls last year to a Sierra Leone community club, Holroyd Rangers Football Club have made good on their pledge to send even more balls at the start of this year.
