Canterbury Bankstown started slow with the North Queensland Cowboys crossing first before the Dogs tied it up at 6-all going into the break.
In front of a crowd of almost 7,000, the Bulldogs came out firing in the second half with tries to Jayden Okunbor, Josh Jackson and a double for Corey Harawira-Naera.
Coach Dean Pay said he spoke to Harawira-Naera at half time after his lacklustre first half and he came out firing.
Harawira-Naera’s double and try saving performance won him the man-of-the-match.
Coach Dean Pay said: “It was nice to get a win, I thought it was a fantastic effort.”
“We started strong … It was pleasing to close out the game after defending for a few sets towards the end.
“They’re still a young and developing team.”
He said they needed to keep working hard and “they will get better and better”.
The Bulldogs also re-signed young star Jayden Okunbor for a further two years.
“It’s pretty awesome to be able to call this place home for the next few years,” Okunbor said.
“Now I can focus on my footy a lot more.
“Everyone knows we have potential. If play the way Deano wants us to, we will surprise a lot of teams this year.”
The Bulldogs take on the Des Hasler led Manly Sea Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Lottoland.
Dogs barking happy over latest victory
THE Bulldogs may be sitting at the tail end of the NRL competition but last week’s 24-12 win against the Cowboys, should be a confidence booster.
