Last Tuesday about 2pm, the 20-year-old man attended the police station to inquire about an unrelated matter, and as he was leaving Traffic and Highway Patrol officers recognised him as being a disqualified driver, and saw him allegedly get into a Honda Civic and drive off along The River Road, Revesby and then onto Isabella Street.
Police said they followed the car and attempted to stop it, but it continued onto Montgomery Avenue, and allegedly travelled through a red light.
A pursuit was initiated and terminated a short time later due to the manner of driving and police lost sight of the car.
A short time later the car was located sitting in traffic on Queen Street, Revesby, and the Chester Hill man was arrested.
He was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed – second offence, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous – second offence, class A motor vehicle exceed speed, not stop at stop line at red arrow, not stop at stop line at red light and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
Man on the run after attack
A MAN has been charged and another is on the run after an alleged assault at East Hills last Saturday night.
About 10.45pm on Saturday, Bankstown Police were called following reports a man had been assaulted and hit by a car outside a licensed premises on Maclaurin Avenue, East Hills.
Police will allege two men, aged 30 and 35, were asked to leave the premises due to their aggressive behaviour. The men left in a Nissan X-Trail along Maclaurin Avenue.
A short time later, the 30-year-old exited the car’s passenger side and approached a 49-year-old man walking along Maclaurin Avenue. He allegedly kicked the older man, who fell onto the road.
Police will allege the 35-year-old man then drove at the 49-year-old man and struck him with the Nissan.
The older man suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his back, leg and thighs. The men then allegedly fled the scene in the car.
Police arrested the 35-year-old man at a home on Furlong Drive, Currans Hill, the following day.
He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.
Inquiries continue into the whereabouts of the second man allegedly involved in the incident.
Did you see pedestrian hit?
CAMPSIE Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Campsie last Monday evening.
About 6.15pm (Monday, May 17), a 64-year-old woman was crossing the road at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Fifth Avenue, at the pedestrian crossing when she was struck by a car.
The woman fell to the ground as the car continued to drive away.
Other motorists stopped and assisted the woman before she was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have captured the collision on dash-cam vision to come forward.
