Involving running and cycling in three stages (run-bike-run), the duathlon series is hosted by the LAPD Triathlon Club and funded by Triathlon NSW with the theme ‘Finish Lines, not Finish Times’.
This program, with grant funding from the ‘Her Sport Her Way’ project, is designed to help clubs reduce barriers to participation and promote inclusive sport experiences for women and girls.
LAPD Triathlon Club President Ben Hill says the sessions are a great opportunity to get a taste of running and cycling together.
“You will learn how to transition quickly and develop general bike handling and manoeuvring skills,” he said.
“We will teach you that consistency is the most important attribute and we also like to train at different places and visit a new coffee shop afterwards together.”
Saying they would like to grow their club and see more develop a passion for duathlons, Hill says there is nothing like cycling and running for health.
“It’s so much better to go for a jog or a bike ride than to sit on the couch and vegetate,” he said.
“We’ll have you running, riding, stretching and learning all the tips and tricks of the trade to soon have your skills and confidence flying.”
With this Sunday’s training session at Parramatta Park, those keen to book or for further info on the free sessions, can call Fiona on 0400 308 301.
