Disaster assistance may be on offer

CANTEBRURY Bankstown residents affected by the torrential rains earlier this month, could be entitled to ‘disaster assistance’ of $1,000 per adult and $400 per child to help with their recovery.

State MP for East Hills, Wendy Lindsay, welcomed the funding, saying it has been an extremely distressing time for residents and business owners.
The assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
NSW Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery, Steph Cooke, said the scale of this flood event required significant recovery support.
“Declaring a natural disaster is an essential first step getting support out the door and in the pockets of individuals, families, farmers and business owners,” she said.
