A concerned Labor candidate for the State seat of Bankstown, Jihad Dib said he was committed to investment in infrastructure and services that were the foundations of community.
“We need to invest in what makes us great – community,” Mr Dib said.
“My overriding priority is to ensure people living in our community can live a good life having a job, staying well and having a safety net of people to rely on.
“Everyone knows I believe in the value of community.”
Among those receiving funding will be The Kitchen Project which will get $45,000 to facilitate social cooking and greater food security for women in the community and informal cooking lessons between generations, $100,000 will go to fund workshops that build skills and employability for older women living in the area, including from CALD and refugees communities, and facilities for the thriving Bankstown Bulls and Vietnamese Community Australia, a critical social hub for Vietnamese Australians, will be upgraded.
