Strike Force Northrop conducted targeted operations on nine nights over four weeks in November and December, allegedly seizing drugs with a street value of more than $174,000 including cocaine, cannabis, MDMA, ketamine, LSD, heroin and methylamphetamine (ice), as well as $112,745 in cash.
On November 13, the 32-year-old from Merrylands West was stopped by police on Hickson Road at The Rocks and police allegedly found $2,100 in cash and more than 21g of cocaine in 31 separate bags in a hidden compartment of his white BMW.
He was charged with supplying a prohibited drug, supplying prohibited drug (indictable quantity) and dealing with property proceeds of crime, while a 33-year-old male passenger, was issued a CAN for possessing a prohibited drug.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Bell said it was the largest number of arrests in one operational phase since the inception of Strike Force Northrop in 2017 and described it as “alarming”.
Boy fifth theft arrest
A TEENAGE boy from Guildford is the fifth person to be charged in relation to an alleged armed robbery and car jacking at Brighton Le Sands earlier this year.
A 45-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by three unknown men in the early hours of June 22 and his late model red Mustang Coupe was stolen.
Detectives, who have already charged four men, aged 27, 31, 21 and 35, in relation to the alleged incident, arrested the 17-year-old at home on Thursday morning.
He was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, kidnap in company with intent to commit serious indictable offence occasion actual bodily harm and aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it (armed with weapon).
Baseball bat assault
A 22-YEAR-OLD man was hospitalised after being beaten by five men armed with baseball bats at Granville on Wednesday night.
Police were called to Boundary Street at 7.30pm and were told the man was getting out of his car when the men attacked him, striking him several times before he was able to escape.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital with serious leg and head injuries.
Investigators have called for public help to identify the attackers who fled the scene, and have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Hotel brawl charges
A 26-YEAR-OLD Wentworth Point man is one of three men to be charged in relation to an alleged brawl at a bar in Ashfield.
Police were called to Cavill Avenue at 2.20am last Tuesday, December 9, after reports two groups were fighting inside the bar before moving onto a road behind the venue.
Two men aged 23 and 37 were treated at the scene for injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
Some of the men fled the scene prior to the arrival of police, however two men – a 28-year-old from Rhodes and 33-year-old from Strathfield – were arrested on Liverpool Road and were each charged with affray before being granted conditional bail.
Later that day, the Wentworth Point man, who is an employee at the venue, was charged with hinder investigation serious indictable offence of other.
Woman in drug arrest
DETECTIVES conducting proactive patrols in relation to drug supply at Wentworth Point, have charged a 27-year-old woman with several drug related charges.
The officers allegedly spotted a car on Hill Road at 10.30pm, and after speaking with a man and two women inside, conducted a search.
They seized a bag containing cocaine, methylamphetamine, cannabis and $15,200 cash – alleged to be the proceeds of crime.
Inquiries are continuing.
