Deaf Fest back with bang offering fun for all families

AN exciting and critical part of Deaf culture and community in NSW, Deaf Festival Sydney returns to Sydney Olympic Park at the end of November.

Connecting the Deaf community after years of lockdown, the festival celebrates culture, history, community and Auslan – Australian Sign Language.
Deaf Festival Sydney will bring together performances, art, hands-on activations, pop-up shopping experiences and culinary delights in an inclusive community environment.
Fully accessible, the event welcomes people of all abilities and ages so bring your family, friends and furry, four-legged pals.
All volunteers will use Auslan to communicate, and there will also be plenty of interpreters on the ground for two-way bilingual interpreting between Deaf and hearing attendees.
Deaf Connect Chief Impact Officer Brent Phillips says the Deaf Festival is an opportunity to bring the community together, celebrate Deaf culture and Auslan, their language.
“The festival has been a mainstay of the Deaf event calendar in NSW for many years and the desire to gather face to face has been sorely missed over the course of the pandemic,” he said.
“Now it is finally time to bring the festival back with a bang.”
It will be held at Cathy Freeman Park, Sydney Olympic Park, on Saturday, November 26, 10am-4pm.
