Deadly stabbing

A MANHUNT is underway after a deadly daylight stabbing attack in Guildford on Saturday afternoon.

Police are appealing for information after a 37-year-old man was horrifically attacked about 1.45pm as he walked with a friend in Guildford.
The pair were walking along Bangor Street when they were approached and assaulted by a group of men, with police believing they were “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.
They were badly beaten before one escaped, later returning to take the other to hospital, where he died a few hours later.
Cumberland Police Area Command Superintendent Andrew Holland said the pair walked past a silver sedan, from which three males, dressed all in black with face coverings, got out and attacked them.
He said the victim was known to police but was not believed to have any links to organised crime or outlaw motorcycle gangs.
“We don’t know any links (to organised crime), but there are concerns about why they’ve been attacked in the middle of the day in the middle of the street,” he said.
Police door-knocked the surrounding area and have also urged anyone who may have information, dashcam footage, or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
