Dance way in dark to mark birthday

JOINING thousands in cities across Australia, hundreds helped celebrate a decade of dancing like no one’s watching at the ‘No Lights No Lycra 10th Birthday’ presented by Medibank in Newtown late last month.

Since its inception, the free-form dance movement has been providing thousands of Australians with a fun and carefree outlet to shimmy their troubles away – in the dark!
The celebration coincided with the release of data by University of Sydney which revealed the profound impact No Lights No Lycra (NLNL) organised events have had on participants, with 97 per cent of attendees experiencing an improvement in mental health and 95 per cent reporting better physical health.
No Lights No Lycra Co-Founder Alice Glenn says she is thrilled that 10 years on, their dance movement is making such a positive difference to Australians.

“Physical inactivity and a lack of community connection are two major challenges for our society at the moment, so I am excited to be celebrating our 10-year milestone working alongside Medibank to encourage more Australians to feel happier, healthier and more connected,” she said.
