Young females often face more barriers when it comes to participating in sport including limited opportunities and programs available, lack of encouragement and lack of confidence. With this in mind, North Bankstown Soccer Club is hosting a 10-week Dads & Daughters program which has been developed by Football NSW and Macquarie University.
The program aims to break the barriers to female participation and increase their representation in football as well as strengthening family relationships.
Kicking off at Graf Park from April 28 to June 23 and for girls aged five to 12 years, each week will include a 30-minute education session followed by a 60-minute practical session.
As well as being introduced to the uniting game of football in a social and judgement-free environment, dads will learn how to be their daughter’s ‘personal coach’ on and off the field, and have fun while boosting theirs and their daughter’s physical, social, emotional and mental health.
Dads will also learn key skills to help their daughter’s growth and development and how to overcome gender barriers.
All fitness levels and abilities welcome and there will also be an opportunity to connect with local football clubs to continue playing soccer.
Cost is $100 which can be covered with an Active Kids Voucher.
