Dad, son have next bash at fundraiser for sick kids

PANANIA father and son, Tom, 52, and Adrian Vellaia, 24, are getting back in the saddle for the third year in a row, taking part in Variety’s B to B Bash and this time travelling from Bondi to Batt Reef near Port Douglas.

Team F7500 will jump into their Ford F100, a former ambulance, on July 28 and head off for 10 days of fun on the road, meeting local communities and raising money for the sick children supported by Variety.

The first year they raised nearly $17,000, the second year about $13,000 and this year have set their sights at least that high.

“Variety has done so much in the area over the years, such as contributing to the Liberty Swing at Paul Keating Park and the all-abilities playground Livvi’s Place at Bankstown City Gardens,” wife and mum Maria said.

“The boys want to help support that and it’s a great bonding opportunity for them as they get to see different parts of Australia.

“They’re camping for a few days, staying in cabins and caravan parks along the way and hoping the car is well enough to drive all the way back at the end, with about 100 other cars going on the run.”

Team F7500 is hosting a fundraiser barbecue at the front of Woolworths in Revesby on both days this weekend, April 6 and 7, 8am-4.30pm, with face painting on Saturday and the Bash vehicle on hand to inspect and take selfies; any donation will be greatly appreciated.
