Cyber security course on offer

TAFE NSW has intensified efforts to upskill the next generation of cyber security professionals after the pandemic created a ‘perfect storm’ for scammers.

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) last month revealed a 13 per cent jump in cyber-attacks nationwide over the past year, with 7,000 new cyber security professionals needed to be on the ground by 2024 to cater to surging demand.
TAFE NSW IT teacher Dang Le says skilled cyber security professionals have an increasingly important role in keeping individuals and businesses safe from criminals around the world.
“The courses, particularly the Certificate IV in Cyber Security, provide graduates with the skills and knowledge to make a difference from their first day on the job,” he said.
TAFE NSW IT graduate, Lakemba’s Philip Dang is one of many tapping into the jobs boom, having gained a role as a Governance and Compliance Officer at a law firm.
“When I was working in desktop support, I noticed more and more reports relating to cyber security. I was intrigued and decided to take the plunge and follow my passion by enrolling in the Certificate IV in Cyber Security,” Mr Dang said.
“The course allowed me to develop my cyber security skill set and opened my mind to new ways of thinking, which has been invaluable in my new role.”
