Cultural showcase’s on offer from ‘cradle of civilisation’

JUST as their ancestors played music for the Gods in a region known as the ‘cradle of civilisation’ and for the second year, Assyrian Aid Society Australia is preparing for its Mesopotamian Night Concert at Bryan Brown Theatre.

With local and international performers, preparation began six months ago and tickets are already on sale for the concert on Sunday, March 15, 5.30-8.30pm. Profits from the event will go to Assyrian Aid Society projects in Iraq.
The concert follows the same model of Mesopotamian Night in the USA, with the first part featuring classical performers like Tenor Andrea Mikhaelov from Russia and countertenor Robert Adam from Sydney.
There will be local performers like Urhay Warda, Wilson Eshay, Giwergis Nikola and Helen Issac plus a special presentation by the talented Niramsin Yakou who will add a unique atmosphere to the night.
The mission of Mesopotamian Night Concert is to celebrate the Assyrian arts, promote the rich Assyrian culture and to preserve the legacy of Assyrians in the homeland, Bet Nahrain (Iraq), for future generations.
Tickets: $80.
