Crowds enjoy bite at fest

WITH a new children’s play area, art market, fabulous food stalls and even a wine bar, Bankstown Bites Food Festival was busier than usual this year after attracting thousands on Saturday.

“Our longer food tours proved a real hit too and we’re finding foodies are converging on Bankstown from right across the state,” Mayor Khal Asfour said.
One of the highlights of the festival was seeing Matt Sinclair, who finished runner-up in the eighth season of MasterChef Australia, cook up a storm in the main kitchen.
Mr Sinclair praised CBCity for influencing his love of ethnic cuisines, saying there is so much on offer that you can’t get in other places.
“Mum used to do most of her grocery shopping here (Bankstown) as there were a lot of great fresh markets which she loved.
“I would go along with her to do the shopping and we’d stop for yum cha or a Lebanese coffee and always pick up something a bit different to try at home.”
