Crispy chips have everyone clucking

WHEN Keat Vin took over the Wild Rooster Chicken Shop at Padstow about a year ago, it wasn’t long before customers started telling him that his chips were the best in town.

And word travels fast.
He now sells one and a half tonne of chips a month and it’s all down to his customised cooking process.
“We simply ask the customer how they want their chips,” he said.
“Some might want extra crispy, others want soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, some would like a bit of spice while others are keen on the traditional chicken or sea salt. Whatever way you like your chips, we can make for you.”
But the real star of the show are Keat’s large, juicy barbecued birds – seasoned or plain – and so affordably priced at $18.50 for a whole chicken or $10 for half.

Enjoy with a serve of the popular chips, delicious baked potato and pumpkin or from the range of crispy or creamy salads such as coleslaw, tabouli, pasta, chicken pasta, Greek salad, seafood salad or potato salad.
Meal deals include the family pack with a whole chicken, chips and salad for $25, a quarter chicken, chips and drink for $10, miso roll with a drink for $9, chicken roll with a drink for $8 or a chicken schnitzel roll with a drink for $9.50.
“Our fried chicken wings and drumsticks, coated in an amazing combination of herbs and spices, are also very popular,” Keat added.
Primarily a takeaway shop with catering orders welcome, Wild Rooster is open seven days a week from 9.30am; until 7pm Monday to Wednesday, 8pm on Thursday and Friday, 2.30pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday.
