Crime prevention activity for students

AUBURN Police have been working with Western Sydney University to deliver crime prevention workshops to international students.

The students, who are enrolled in short term study programs, are being introduced to the Australian way of life, including understanding the emergency services role within the community.
Throughout the year, police conducted workshops for more than 200 students, covering topics such as understanding incident reporting and emergency services; personal safety, safe places and safe people; transport safety and traffic offences; outdoor safety, beach safety, safe partying; and an understanding of police equipment.
Last month, students also had the opportunity to interact with several police, ask questions, have photos taken and develop a positive rapport with Auburn police conducting an international students community engagement activity, supported by Granville Rotary, at Sydney Olympic Park.
Officers from Highway Patrol, Police Transport Command, Recruitment and from the new police building nearby, also attended.
Three students also spoke about their experiences in Sydney and how they appreciated the support of Police.
