Creatives snap up wins

THE winners of the 2019 Cumberland Art and Photography Awards (CAPA) were announced in conjunction with the annual exhibition held at the Peacock Gallery in the Auburn Botanic Gardens.

Mehrdad Mehraeen won the Cumberland Art Award for ‘Water, Soil, Wind’, while Serkan Ogdum took out the Cumberland Photography Award for ‘Gum Flower’.
The Community Art Award went to Gillian Kayrooz for her work ‘You Going Parra-Late-Night?’, while the Community Photography Award was awarded to Tao Cheng for ‘Home’.

SJ Allen won the Sustainability Award for ‘Are We a bunch of Galahs?’; Svetlana Panov won the Auburn Arts Studio Award for ‘Pure Joy’; and Trish Jean won the Parks, Gardens and Natural Areas Award for ‘Reflections: Japanese Lake, Cherry Blossom Festival, Auburn Botanic Gardens’.
Merit awards also went to artists Tao Cheng, Nonna Myndreskou and Maurice Fernandez, and photographers Abhijit Choudhry and Nic Marotta, while Patrick Maye received an Encouragement Award.
