Crackdown over illegal firework use

POLICE say they won’t tolerate a repeat of New Year’s Eve’s unauthorised public fireworks display in Guildford over the upcoming Australia Day long weekend.

A Cumberland Police Area Command spokesperson also reminded the community that the current public health orders relating to Covid-19, would be enforced to ensure the well-being of residents.
“Further we also wish to remind the community that the unauthorised possession or use of fireworks is an offence for which a range of penalties may apply,” he said.
“Police will treat any breaches of these regulations and public safety orders seriously due to the elevated public health threat that exists in this area at the present time.”
