Covid limbo still

WITH Covid-19 continuing to spread throughout the community and a growing list of venues of concern for possible transmission, Premier Gladys Berejiklian expects to make a decision about the lockdown today and “what next week looks like will depend on the health advice”.

Growing list of hotspots cause lockdown lift woe

The Premier said there was “no doubt” the lockdown was having its “desired effect” and she wanted this to be the last lockdown until the majority of citizens were vaccinated.
With the list of venues of concern increasing daily, including many in the Canterbury Bankstown area, she has asked everyone to remain vigilant and get tested “no matter how mild the symptoms”.
“It really stresses me out when we hear examples of businesses not doing the right thing or individuals not wearing a mask when they should, because when people don’t do the right thing – even if it’s just a handful – it impacts on all of us and and we don’t want to see that jeopardise the good work we have been doing,” she said.
There have been several breaches including the Bulldogs receiving a $50,000 breach notice for failing to take all reasonable measures to ensure their players comply with the NRL’s biosecurity rules and five players also fined, as well as a barber in Campsie and a customer who were fined $1,000 and $200, respectively.
As of Monday, the Service NSW QR code will also be mandatory at all workplaces and retail businesses.
Minister for Digital and Customer Service, Victor Dominello, said expanding the mandate would give NSW Health contact tracers real-time access to QR code data from a greater number of venues including supermarkets, retail stores, gyms and offices.
“There is no excuse not to check-in everywhere you can – businesses and customers all have a part to play to keep NSW safe,” Mr Dominello said.
Businesses that fail to comply with the new health order requirements may be subject to fines and in case of flagrant breaches, temporary closure orders.
