Cook up NAIDOC Week event to boost bond

WITH highlights including a bush tucker workshop, damper making and boomerang painting, Settlement Services International (SSI), in partnership with Kinchela Boys Home, celebrated NAIDOC Week at the SSI Community Kitchen at Auburn Centre for Community last week.

“Through this event, we aimed to encourage respectful intercultural dialogue and exchange by fostering understanding and curiosity between Aboriginal and newcomer communities,” a spokesperson said.

“To do this, we also hosted a yarning circle, a smoking ceremony and didgeridoo entertainment plus a delicious feed.”
