Contain ghost but no run joy

A WONDERFUL fielding effort was not enough for Bankstown Sports First Grade Women to steal the match from the spritely Campbelltown-Camden Ghosts who came out swinging with NSW Breaker and Sydney Thunder player Anika Learoyd.

Guiding the visitors to 2/112 after 25 overs, Learoyd eventually fell for 81 after a fantastic catch by Sarah Aley.
Bankstown then tightened the screws with Aley the pick of the bowlers with 3/22 and Samantha Devlin also chipping in the 3/28.
The Ghosts were all out for 149 which was a relief considering they looked on track for a score of 200 plus.
Bankstown Sports chase started with a 21-run stand between Tahlia Dunne and Jannutal Sumona but unfortunately one wicket brought two and then three to leave Sporties with a lot of work to do at 3/30.
Dharmini Chauhan showed grit and determination to put together a well constructed 31 which also involved a 55-run partnership with Emily Lawler to get back into the game.
Tara and Solo Aoina did their best to take it as deep as possible with some late hitting but Bankstown Sports were eventually all out for 133, 17 runs short with 12 overs to play.
