Community invited to shape $350 million Canterbury Hospital

THE community is invited to participate in a new survey to help shape planning for the largest upgrade to Canterbury Hospital in 26 years.

The NSW Government is investing $350 million in the Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment to expand the current facility and deliver upgrades to existing infrastructure.
The Lead Design Team for the project was appointed in March 2024 and is working with Health Infrastructure and Sydney Local Health District to determine the key clinical service priorities and progress the planning for the redevelopment.
Master planning is underway for the redevelopment which will outline the vision for the site and identify the location of key aspects of the hospital such as clinical services, parking and future expansion areas.
The survey, which can be completed online, provides the community the opportunity to have their say and help shape planning for the hospital redevelopment.
Feedback is being invited until Monday, 30 September. A link to the survey can be found here: https://forms.office.com/r/wf8YvPnPiX
The scope of the project and indicative timing of the works will be finalised during planning and design. Staff, stakeholders, and the community will be updated as the project progresses.
Minister for Health Ryan Park said community consultation is an essential part of planning and design to ensure the Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment is tailored to the needs of the local community, staff, patients and their families.
“We encourage patients, staff, carers, volunteers and the community to take part in this important survey,” he said.
“This is the biggest upgrade of Canterbury Hospital in 26 years and will deliver modern facilities for our dedicated health staff to continue to deliver high-quality care.”
State MP for Canterbury Sophie Cotsis said Canterbury is a vibrant and hardworking community, and the much-welcomed $350 million redevelopment of the hospital will provide local jobs in health, technology and clinical support services.
“This investment will help build healthcare infrastructure to meet the needs of our diverse and growing community,” she said.
“I urge our community to participate in the survey and we will also be holding roundtable discussions”.
