Community hub 4cs mark 50th milestone

LIVING in the suburb since the age of three, Esta Paschalidis-Chilas became CEO of Canterbury City Community Centre (4cs) nearly two years ago after serving on Canterbury Council and as a CEO at a neighbouring community organisation.

4cs operates as a community hub where residents can become involved in a range of activities or services through volunteering or membership.
Some of the services include delivering aged and home care packages, development courses under the STARS (skills, training and resource services) program, parenting groups, gardening workshops, English classes and small business courses plus more.
With 4cs celebrating its 50-year anniversary this year, Esta says it’s an incredibly special time to be the CEO and she deeply felt the responsibility to nurture the strong legacy left by those that came before her.
The former Clemton Park Public and Kingsgrove North High School student said like many aged care providers, 4cs was facing a “fork in the road” with a new system of reform coming in July 2024.
This will mean services will no longer be able to rely on the security of their block funding to continue, instead funding will be similar to the NDIS where it is consumer directed.
“We are working with our industry colleagues and supporters to ensure we are ready and can maintain our sustainability into the future,” she said.
“Things are changing but our focus and mission on people and community will always remain; that’s what has allowed us to reach this incredible milestone today.”
