Coordinator and initiator of the program, Karl Saleh OAM, said the free food distributions have done so much for the community, including everyone closer together.
“It’s just one example of the essential work that we can carry out to make our community stronger and more resilient, helping our neighbours and residents during the pandemic,” he said.
“Congratulations to all the dedicated volunteers for making this program a huge success and helping our residents in need.”
In its second year, the program is sponsored by Canterbury Bankstown City Council, Riverwood Community Centre, and Woolworths.
Community comes together to help those less fortunate
VOLUNTEERS from the Canterbury Bankstown Harmony Group and the Harmony Care Foundation came together with State MP for Lakemba, Jihad Dib and representatives from Campsie police and Club Rivers to help prepare and hand out more than 300 free food bags containing essential food items at Riverwood Community Centre last Saturday.
