It’s the club’s first time that a female captain (U12s) has won a grand final, according to club vice-president Dave Harrigan who said that despite most of the season being washed out, it was a successful year for the club with membership continuing to boom.
The junior club of Jayden Okunbor (Bulldogs), Justin Holbrook (Knights, Panthers and Roosters), Lachlan Burr (Bulldogs, Warriors, Titans) and Trent Cutler (Bulldogs), the Colts are also celebrating the fact that all of their girls teams made the semi-finals.
Harrigan says they pride themselves on being a multicultural family club.
“They call us the United Nations since we have such a great mix of cultures including Kiwis, Maoris, Chinese, Indigenous, Arabic, Lebanese and Indian,” he said.
“There’s no better outlet for kids than footy; it’s their home away from home.”
Planning to hold their first presentation day in two years, over Covid, on November 5, Harrigan says there is no summer competition but many juniors would switch to Oztag over the next few months to keep up their fitness.
Registrations for the 2023 footy season open on November 1, with games kicking off in April.
