Coaches wanted to help boost potential

AN innovative youth leadership development program matching high school students with volunteer community or business coaches, Max Potential has been running for 21 years and is designed to facilitate personal and professional growth.

The 2024 Cumberland program, hosted and sponsored by Dooleys, will be the 17th year of nurturing the potential of local high school students, helping them become effective leaders and confident individuals in the community through face-to-face coaching sessions and workshops.
This year the cohort will consist of 20 young adults who will take part in the program from April 27 to October 22 but more coaches are needed.
As a coach you will be professionally trained and over the course of 22 weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to coach a young adult in pursuit of their goals and the development of a community service pitch – an entrepreneurial idea to address a need in the community.
Previous coach Kate said: “I have more confidence now in coaching my team at work. But more importantly, I have used the GROW framework to help my 17-year-old son become more motivated and have seen a big change in his mindset.”
Coach Robert said: “It is an excellent leadership and personal development program for young people, and a great opportunity for community coaches to make a contribution that touches the future of the community.”
Coach Sarah said: “I’ve improved my own communication and listening skills … I’ve learned to be more self-aware and have become much more comfortable in myself and my ability to do things.”
