Clubs, pubs put on show

CLUBS and pubs are going all out to ensure this Sunday’s Australia Day (January 26) celebration is a memorable one for all.

Bring the family down to Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club for entertainment, great food specials at Lloyd’s Bistro, Aussie hampers, the Sunday raffle at 6pm and more.
There will be face painting with Groovy Suzy and a roaming kangaroo, 12-3pm, with the Diamond Rhythm Band playing from 2pm in the Members Lounge and the Side by Side: Peter Allen & Olivia Newton-John Show at 8.30pm.
Dooleys Waterview at Silverwater is featuring a set menu of Aussie classics plus blackboard specials and guitarist Jim Pennell from 12noon, along with hampers to be won in the swipe & win members draw.
Celebrating a day early and combining it with a bushfire appeal fundraiser, Lidcombe Bowling Club is hosting a barbecue, $10 games of bowls, raffles, prizes and live music on Saturday, January 25, from 1pm.
Merrylands RSL is going all out with amazing prizes to be won, live entertainment from Speewah from 3-6pm in the Belmont Lounge and true blue tucker specials for lunch and dinner.
You can snag a barbecue and the meat to go with it. There are heaps of prizes perfect for the great outdoors, for picnic or the beach.
All prizes up for grabs are on display in the Miller Street carpark entrance.
Raffle tickets go on sale on Sunday from 1pm, with the draw at 2pm.
Guildford Leagues Club is getting an early start on Australia Day with breakfast, 9-11am, featuring sausage and egg rolls and bacon and egg rolls (gold coin donation for the first 200 breakfasts sold with proceeds to the Lions Club Drought Relief).
The day will also feature a reptile show, 9am-3pm, free family show Simply Bushed, 12-3pm, the Big Aussie Raffle, 5pm, and Paul Green with the best Aussie classic music from 6pm.
The Billabong Hotel at Merrylands is hosting an Australia Day Eve party on Saturday, January 25, from 7pm and featuring a DJ, complimentary bar food and a ‘thong chucking’ competition with prizes.
