Clubs calling for registrations

THE most popular sport in the world and the number one sport in Australia, soccer (football) is the ideal activity to take up this year being non-contact and a great workout for the body and mind.

If you’re looking to start playing, local clubs including Bass Hill Rangers FC, are now calling for registrations for the upcoming winter season.

Playing every Saturday at Walshaw Park, Bass Hill, and part of the Bankstown District Amateur Football Association (BDAFA), the club – which was established in 1963 – caters for all individuals no matter their ability, age or skill set and is inviting all, including girls from ages five years and up, to give soccer a go.
Club Secretary Chris Nestorovski, whose two boys Noah, 7, and Elijah, 5, play (with another on the way), says Bass Hill Rangers is a smaller club that is incredibly family oriented.
“We’re very much a community driven club and because of our size, are able to give a lot more focus on each player compared with the larger clubs,” he said.
“We have two football fields that are fully lit with match standard lighting and a smaller field to cater for our younger players. Our fields are fully maintained by the council and are always in good condition.
“We’re excited that we already have registrations rolling in, including from females, for the season which gets underway in April.”
Enjoying a player boom in the last three years, Bankstown Sports Stars FC is halfway through their summer tournament and gearing up for the winter competition.
President Frank Fruci lives and breathes the game all year round and is looking forward to playing a full winter season this year after last year’s Covid disruptions.
“We have great members, great volunteers and are part of a great community,” he said.
