Club support boost win

IN the lead-up to ANZAC Day, Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL Club (CHPRSL) has supported the frontline heroes of defence and their families by donating $100,000 to RSL LifeCare, Disaster Relief Australia and Swiss 8.

Members and guests can help raise additional funds by purchasing tickets in the ‘Thank You For Your Service’ fundraising raffles, with $1,000 also raised for Disaster Relief Australia during the club’s weekly meat raffles.
CHPRSL Dean Thomas says the most effective way to show appreciation for our veterans and those who continue to serve, is to simply say ‘Thank You For Your Service’ and buy a raffle ticket.
“For a veteran to hear that their service is appreciated means a lot,” he said.
“It is also important for us to get behind organisations that provide much needed welfare and support for veterans and their families. It is for this reason that we made the significant financial contribution to the three very worthwhile veteran groups.”
There will be a dawn service at the Bert Crook Memorial (Canterbury Rd carpark) at 5.15am on ANZAC Day (Monday, April 25) with a gunfire breakfast to follow in The Arena at the club for $10 a person with all proceeds going to the veteran charities.
Free entertainment will be on offer from 11.30am-2pm, with Oz Rock Band performing the music of Australian legendary artists combining both old with contemporary, including Dragon, Cold Chisel, Choir Boys, Billy Thorpe, Easy Beats, Daddy Cool, INXS, Baby Animals, The Veronica’s, Screaming Jets, Men At Work, Hunters & Collectors and many more.
Two-Up will be on offer during the NRL footy half-time entertainment on the Saturday and Sunday as well as between 2-4pm on the Monday of the ANZAC Day long weekend.
