With the funds used to assist with the purchase of text books, paying university fees or purchasing technology required for their degree, the club awarded two $3,000 scholarships and 12 $500 scholarships to new applicants totalling $12,000, along with the ongoing $500 scholarships for each subsequent year of study to previous applicants – taking this year’s total scholarship funding to $27,500.
The Tertiary Scholarship Program first began in the late 1960s awarding the likes of renowned neurosurgeon Dr Brian Owler with a scholarship cheque which helped in his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Sydney where he earned a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery.
“Special mention must also be given to the recipients of the $3,000 scholarships – Sarah Arnold achieved an ATAR of 96.55 and will be studying a Bachelor of Science and Advanced Studies and Rashad Islam achieved an ATAR of 97.70 and will be studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Exercise Psychology,” a club spokesperson said.
“Congratulations to all recipients.”
