Held at the Club’s Lavico Italian Ristorante on Wednesday, August 28, from 7pm, you can expect to be entertained by ‘Australia’s First Lady of Beer’ Waldhorn as she takes you through all things craft beer and how to match a great brew to your meal, both sweet and savoury.
A relatively new word to the dining vocabulary of Sydneysiders, beergustations are all about matching amazing food with specially chosen craft beer to take diners on a culinary journey.
“This degustation menu will push people out of their comfort zone and show that beer can be matched with more than just a steak,” said Canterbury Executive Chef, Stephanie Azar.
The ingredients list of the five-course menu may raise some eyebrows on the night, but fortune favours the bold; just imagine the succulence of confit duck, the rich and earthy flavour of goat’s cheese, a drizzle of bourbon barbecue glaze here and a dash of chilli there.
The menu will include Confit Duck Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette, Goats Cheese and Caramelised Onion Raviolone, Spicy Chicken Korean Wings coated in sweet and sticky chilli sauce, Memphis Beef Brisket slow cooked in a Memphis rub served with a trio of potato crisps and finished with a bourbon barbecue glaze; and to top off the night you will enjoy a Dark Chocolate Chilli Tart complimented with whipped mascarpone and fresh berries – all to be matched with a specially chosen craft beer by Ms Waldhorn.
“It gives the chefs a chance to showcase our talents as well as giving our patrons an experience to remember. It is also a bit of fun and something different from the usual mid-week dinner,” Ms Azar said.
“There will be great food, craft beer and great company with a wealth of knowledge to take home.”
