WITH the countdown on until the East Hills Charity Car Show on Sunday, June 18, organisers are calling for car entry and stallholder registrations to help plans rev up for what is hoped to be the biggest and best yet.
The car show has previously supported organisations such as the NSW Rural Fire Service, Kids with Cancer Australia, Angel Flight Australia, Prostate Cancer NSW, Motor Neurone Disease NSW and Crohn’s & Colitis Australia.
This year’s beneficiary will be Multiple Sclerosis Australia with organiser Glen Waud knowing only too well how much raising funds and finding a cure would mean to thousands of families.
“My mother and aunty were both affected by this terrible illness,” he said.
“First showing signs in her mid 40s, my mother was diagnosed with MS aged 49.
“It started with limping, then a walking stick, walking frame, wheel chair and finally becoming completely bedridden.
“MS eventually affects every part of your body and although my mother fought hard against the illness for over 25 years, she ultimately passed in 2008.”
There are over 25,600 people living with Multiple Sclerosis in Australia of which three out of four are women aged between 20-40 and there is no cure.
“However, through organisations like MS Australia, research will continue into finding a cure for MS,” Glen said.
“One day a cure will be found and through your support, that day may be just around the corner.”
A family fun day, the car show will be held at Kelso Oval in Panania and feature food and trade stalls, entertainment, including a live band, and of course, plenty of interesting cars on exhibition including entrants and visitors from all over NSW.
