Girl, 9, hands over cash at knifepoint in family store hold-up
The man entered the mixed business on Water Road at 8.20pm and threatened the pair with a knife before stealing cash and cigarettes.
Security footage shows the man pausing to lock the front door after he entered the store, as well as the moment he put on his mask.
He then waved the knife-blade in the little girl’s face as she tried to hand him the till tray.
At one point during the robbery, the ‘skull’ face mask he was wearing slipped off and he struggled to put it back on.
Also appearing to forget the locked door, the footage shows him pushing on it before turning and running to escape through the back of the store.
Neither the grandmother or her granddaughter were physically injured during the encounter.
Police have appealed for anyone with information that might help identify the man to come forward and described him as wearing a black hooded top, black three-quarter length pants and white running shoes, and a face mask.
It’s the second time the store has been targeted by armed thieves.
