Over 50 firefighters battled to quell fire in chicken store, save shop neighbours

FIREFIGHTERS worked for almost two hours to contain and extinguish a blaze in a chicken shop in Guildford.

The fire began in the flue before spreading to the ceiling and adjoining properties on Sunday, November 14.
Upon arrival, more than 50 firefighters found the Bolton Street shop well alight and a number of neighbouring shops under threat.
Superintendent Scott Dodson says this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should only be used to contact police, fire or ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
