Founded in 2014 by Amar Singh, the registered charity’s purpose is to help anyone in need regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity.
“We raise awareness about important social issues, fundraise for worthy causes and participate in charitable works,” Amar said.
“Our practice promotes multiculturalism and religious tolerance and enables fellow Australians to receive a glimpse of the Sikh community and its honourable beliefs.”
Now helping up to 150 families a week with free groceries, masks and sanitisers, Turbans 4 Australia also hopes to build a commercial kitchen in the warehouse where they will cook up hot meals which can be collected or delivered to vulnerable members of the community.
“We also plan to offer youth services in our warehouse space as we have become a port of call for the many international students that are unable to work again,” Amar said.
“Although the residents seeking our help include everyone, from families and individuals to the elderly.”
The warehouse at 14 Martha Street, Clyde, is open to the public to obtain groceries on Wednesdays, 6-8pm, and Sundays, 10am-1pm.

Charity cooks up aid
AFTER being busy in the last few years providing emergency relief packages to drought-stricken farmers and bushfire and flood ravaged communities across the State, Turbans 4 Australia have now leased an industrial warehouse in Clyde to provide groceries for those doing it tough in the Covid lockdown.
