Hindering arrest charge

TWO men aged 60 and 31 have been charged with intimidating and hindering police who were attempting to arrest a man in Auburn.

Police from the Proactive Crime Team were patrolling Mclean Street, Auburn, about 11.10pm on Saturday, July 31, when they approached an illegally parked Nissan R50 with two men sitting inside and the internal light on.
It’s alleged the driver and passenger aged 29 and 28 exited the vehicle and while one was detained, the younger man fled on foot into the backyard of a house on Mary Street, with an officer in pursuit.
When the male constable attempted to speak to the man, it is alleged two men aged 31 and 60 approached the officer in an aggressive manner and threatened him.
The officer allegedly requested the men to step back on multiple occasions, which they failed to do, before he deployed OC spray.
Police said that during the altercation, the officer backed out of the property and the gate was closed on him by the occupants, before being forced back open by police a short time later.
By that time, the 28-year-old man had fled the property.
Police also allegedly seized $10,000 cash at the time.
The 60-year-old and 31-year-old were charged with intimidating a police officer in execution of duty and resisting or hindering police in the execution of duty.
The 28-year-old man was charged with resisting officer in execution of duty, not complying with noticed direction – Covid-19 and failing to comply with any other wear face covering directive, and the 29-year-old man was issued two $1,000 Penalty Infringement Notices for breaches of the Public Health Orders.
Investigations are continuing.

Killed in second shooting
A MAN was fatally shot in Guildford late Friday night only minutes after a shooting in Chester Hill.
Police were called to Boundary Road, Chester Hill, about 11pm, where they located an injured man who had been shot, and only minutes later responded to a shooting at Rhodes Avenue, Guildford, where a man had been shot and killed.
