Charge pair after stranger thwarts potential hold-up

TWO men have been charged with over alleged robberies in Burwood and Lidcombe last month.

About 6.20pm on Saturday, January 13, a 30-year-old man was walking along Elsie Street, Burwood, when a vehicle pulled alongside him and two passengers got out and chased him into a nearby restaurant where he was allegedly threatened with a knife before the pair attempted to steal his bag.
A member of the public came to his aid and the pair fled empty-handed.
About 6.45pm the same day, a 34-year-old man parked his motorcycle on Cross Street, Lidcombe, when a vehicle pulled up alongside him and two passengers got out and approached him, demanding his bag.
The man refused and during a struggle with the pair, he was punched and kicked to the head and body before the pair fled.
A 21-year-old from Auburn was charged with assault with intent to rob in company and a 20-year-old with attempted robbery armed with offensive weapon and possess prohibited drug.
