Charge jailed man over home invasion in which woman hit with bat, man shot

SIX months after five men allegedly forced their way in to a home in Chester Hill and threatened the occupants with several weapons, including a baseball bat and a firearm, a man has been charged.

Police were called to the Esme Avenue home about 4.40pm on Thursday, September 28, last year following reports of shots fired.
A 46-year-old woman was allegedly hit with the bat, while a 48-year-old man suffered a leg wound. The man was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.
There were also a number of children at the home at the time but were not injured.
Following an investigation by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, a 23-year-old man was arrested at a correctional facility.
He was charged with specially aggravated break and enter with intent armed with dangerous weapon and discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
