This important date reminds us of the caring and professional work our aged care staff perform every day, all working above and beyond the call of duty to keep older Australians cared for, safe and thriving.
Sad and frustrated he wasn’t able to help look after his ageing parents in India, Francis’ wife Jasmine suggested he train as an aged care worker here – advice which he took before joining her at Glow Healthcare Agency.
He said he now felt so good knowing how much he was helping their elderly clients.
“I feel deeply privileged to be able to work here caring for people, developing my skills and making a lot of friends along the way,” Francis said.
“I’m very grateful for this job and even if some of our clients are not in a good mood some days, it is not a problem as we are all human and I just try to make life better for them however I can.”
So passionate now about aged care, he said he would eventually study to be an aged care registered nurse and definitely encourages others to join the industry.
“It’s a very rewarding industry where every day is different and I’m so pleased to have made the move,” he added.
Chance to say thanks to aged care workers
AGED Care Employee Day (tomorrow, Wednesday, August 7) is a chance to say a massive ‘thanks for caring’ to dedicated and compassionate aged care superheroes, including Glow Healthcare Agency Granville’s Francis Clement, who look after our older loved ones.
